BIOGRAPHY

Nihal Azak gained her first stage experience in the youth opera Der Felsenjunge by Camille van Lunen, in which she also performed a solo role. She studied for her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Music Education, majoring in voice, under Heike Susanne Daum at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, and subsequently completed a Master’s degree in voice with Anja Paulus at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf.

During her studies, she performed roles such as the Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte and Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro.
As a soloist, she appeared as Papagena in Die Zauberflöte at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, as a Blumenmädchen in Parsifal at Theater Koblenz, and as Annu / Junge Frau / Reporter in Kamala Sankaram’s Thumbprint at the Wuppertaler Bühnen.

In the opera choir, she sang at the Oper Köln in productions such as Les Troyens and Carmen, and was a member of the opera choir at Musiktheater im Revier for several seasons, performing in opera, operetta, oratorio, and musical productions. She was also part of the opera choir (1st soprano) at the Wuppertaler Bühnen for several seasons, where she additionally took on solo roles, including in Thumbprint.

​Since November 2025, she has been singing as a first soprano in the opera chorus at Theater Dortmund.
